Yes. NVMe-over-Fabrics, or NVMe-oF™, is a networked storage protocol that allows storage to be made widely available to multiple applications and servers.
You can store more data without adding new storage systems by upgrading existing HDDs with new high-capacity 20TB HDDs. These new drives are the same size as older drives, but can store significantly more data.
One solution for rapid data growth is to consolidate multiple smaller storage systems into one larger storage platform that can hold up to 102 high-capacity HDDs. This increases data storage capacity while decreasing capital expenditures and lowering operating costs, such as power, cooling, and management burden.
A shared JBOF system, such as Western Digital’s OpenFlex Data24 NVMe-oF Storage Platform, can provide low-latency sharing of NVMe SSDs over a high-performance Ethernet fabric.
