Driver Resource Groups

At WD, we call ourselves Drivers, and our employee-led communities reflect that same sense of ownership and purpose. What many organizations call Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), we call Driver Resource Groups (DRGs): a name that is personal to our culture and speaks to who we are.

DRGs are designed to build connection, belonging, and engagement across our global workforce. Organized around shared identities, backgrounds, and experiences, DRGs bring together employees from every region, background, and career stage, creating space where every person feels seen, valued, and empowered to contribute and grow.

DRGs are open to every WD employee worldwide. You do not need to identify with a specific community to participate. Allies and advocates are not just welcome, they are an essential part of what makes each DRG stronger.

She Invents

She Invents is an internal program open to all employees. The program was designed to increase female submission of invention disclosures within Western Digital. The program hosts events and offers resources and guides that educate employees on the patent process and promote inventorship.

Inspiration and Guidance

When Sabra-Anne Truesdale, associate general counsel on Western Digital's Patent team, read a report showing that women make up 20 percent of the technical workforce but less than 10 percent of inventors she was driven to action. Together with her manager, she spearheaded the creation of She Invents in 2020 to address the underrepresentation of women in STEM, especially when it comes to patenting.
