Sebastien Devaud
For over 20 years, Sebastien Devaud has been a director, passionate about the image. Having studied directing, photography and lighting, Sebastien started out as a cameraman, later developed his editing skills. In 1999, he set up his own production company to shoot and post-produce commercials and music videos. From there, enjoying the adrenaline of live recording, he moved into broadcast TV and created productions notable for their use of contemporary lighting and depth of field effects.
For Sebastien, the release of the Canon EOS 5D Mark II was a revelation. Always interested in new technologies, he grasped the potential of this revolutionary camera from the outset and was amongst the first end user to use it professionally. Today, as a Canon enthusiast, he uses their full range of DSLR and Cinema EOS system cameras and lenses in all his productions whether they’re commercials, dramas, music videos, corporate or broadcast.
Above all, the importance for him is to always keep his passion safe in this new normal world!Regardless of the shoot or cameras he uses, Sebastien trusts recording video exclusively to SanDisk CF Express, CFast 2.0, Extreme PRO®CompactFlash, SD Cards and SSDs.
In all my experience using SanDisk memory cards in my work,
I have never suffered any problems with SanDisk memory cards,
in terms of write speeds, file transfer, or
reliability and above all they perform
every time and reduce any worries (stress) I have!

Behind the Scenes with Sebastien Devaud
In my job I have a preference for shooting commercials and titles but I like all kind of productions. In the past 16 years I have also had the opportunity to perform many TV broadcasts shows, documentaries, corporate films and mini fiction.
Even when I became a Director, I never lost the passion for the framing of the camera during the shoot. Since 2008, I have only used Canon cameras, with a preference for the Cinema EOS range (Today-EOS C300 Mark III & C500 Mark II. I also use Canon HDSLRs in my work, including the EOS-1D C and new EOS-1D X Mark III and some corporate cameras from the X-series like the XF 705 for daily productions. For my tripods and heads, I trust and use Manfrotto products, Atomos for all my recorder monitors, Litepanels, Cineroid and Aputure for the lighting, and Rode microphones for all the audio & Adobe suite for all postproduction softwares.
I started as assistant photographer where I fell in love with lenses. Then I discovered cinema cameras as S16mm & S35mm and study the narrative grammar to tell stories with lenses.
Since this moment I always wanted to produce moving images. But I sincerely think we (photographers, cinematographers & videographers) are all part of the same world: images! And we should never forget that everything starts with still images, 24fps for the cinema and 25fps for the broadcast industry.
Once I have an idea, I need to be excited and trust my concept to reach the next step. Then, I start to write the scenery and draw the storyboard with all the technical locations and information. Afterwards, I enter pre-production where (depending of the type of production) I need to cast my actors and scout locations to find the right place to shoot. Finally, when all authorizations are confirmed, we schedule a rehearsal & pre-light the day before the shooting.
